Emma asks :

Hiya Lucy,

I'm 28 years old married with 2 children. I am so frustrated for the past 4 years I haven't had a sex drive. It seemed to disappear when I was pregnant with my second child. I have been to the doctors on several occasions and they don't seem to know how to help. I love my husband dearly but I don't ever feel in the mood. Please help.

Agony Aunts on Female First

There are many reasons for lack of libido in women and one of these is coined post baby 'coolness' which can happen after childbirth. There are so many hormonal changes during this time that is can often lead to a lack of interest in sex, so it possible that this is linked with the birth of your second child.

Perhaps there are some psychological reasons linked to your lack of sex drive.

If you are suffering from depression, stress or anxiety this can have an impact too. If you suspect it might be one of the above, it might be worth asking your doctor about some counselling. Or you can arrange this yourself if you wish to go private.

If the doctor hasn't been much help, you can always book an appointment with a female doctor at the family planning clinic as they deal with this problem more often and might be able to suggest something else for you.

If you are on any prescribed medication- it might be worth exploring if there is an alternative as this can also cause changes to your libido.
