Whether your partner is vegan or you’re a vegan couple- Valentine’s Day can be tricky as it’s often all about dairy loaded desserts and romantic horse and carriage rides. Here are some suggestions if you are struggling to find something to do.

Vegan afternoon tea: SImply go online and look for vegan afternoon teas in your area and you are bound to find a few, just make sure you book as soon as possible as time is running out! If you enjoy looking around garden centres- Dobbies has started serving vegan afternoon teas as of this month, so you can look at plants and eat them too! 

Vegan meal out: Most restaurants now cater for vegans, so you won’t be short of choice, however if you have a favourite, or you want to return to the restaurant you had your first date in, this might add another level of romance to the night. Valentine’s Day might be a good time to try somewhere you’ve never been to if you tend to gravitate towards the same eateries every time you go out. Plus you can go the extra mile and dress up in your finest clothes. 

Vegan movie night: Stock up on all your favourite vegan snacks, drinks and popcorn and watch a movie together while snuggled up on the couch. If you want to make it exclusively vegan- you could watch one of the many documentaries that celebrate plant based living. 

Vegan cooking class: If you are both hopeless in the kitchen and always rely on convenience vegan food- this could be one for you. You get to make something together and then take it home and enjoy the fruits of your labour with each other.  You never know, it you might enjoy it enough to make it a regular outing for the both of you. 

Vegan meal in: If you can both cook up a storm in the kitchen- why not keep it simple and cook something special at home? You could recreate the first vegan meal you ever shared together, or try something new that you’ve been wanting to make for a while. Either way, it’s more budget friendly and you don’t have to get dressed up! Why not try some of the new offerings from Linda McCartney Foods that are all suitbale for vegans!

Coffee shop date: Perhaps you are lucky enough to live near a great vegan cafe- if so, you could find a cosy little corner and enjoy one of their sweet treats and a beverage of your choice while talking the time away. It’s nothing too fancy if you don’t want to make a huge fuss about the day, but still marks the occasion with a little indulgence.  

Vegan pub: You may live near a pub that only sells vegan beer and wine- if so- great! However if you don’t, but know of one that has a selection of vegan beverages, this could be just as good for your evening get together. You could enjoy a plant based pub meal and a few drinks with each other for an easygoing date night if getting dressed up and heading out to a fancy restaurant isn’t your scene.
