With the eighth episode of The Walking Dead: World Beyond came the show’s biggest twist yet, as it was revealed that one member of our core group was working as a double agent.

Following an episode that saw Huck’s (Annet Mahendru) backstory explored, revealing how she took down her fellow marines because of a moral disagreement with how the pandemic that was sweeping the world should be handled (and how she received that facial scar), even more of her history was given to audiences in episode eight.

A final scene saw Lieutenant Colonel of the Civic Republic Military, Elizabeth Kublek (Julia Ormond) call a meeting with one of those working for her, to chat about the “asset” that was being guided towards whatever her goal may be. That person working for Kublek? None other than Huck herself.

As if that wasn’t enough, when Kublek handed Huck a timepiece and confirmed it used to belong to her father, the assumption was made that the two not only shared a working relationship, but a family connection as mother and daughter. Whether or not that really is the case remains to be seen.

Exactly why Kublek wants both Iris (Aliyah Royale) and Hope Bennett (Alexa Mansour) to embark on a journey in pursuit of their father isn’t something that has yet been revealed. What is highly likely however, is that either Iris or Hope - or potentially even both of the sisters - are the “asset” being talked about within the Civic Republic.

Both Elton (Nicolas Cantu) and Silas (Hal Cumpston) left the group without little fuss from Huck, so neither of them are a high priority for her.

Unless Felix (Nico Tortorella) is unexpectedly revealed as the “asset”, it’s going to be very interesting to find out exactly what is so special about the Bennett siblings, that the Civic Republic are determined to keep them alive, after slaughtering the rest of those who once living amongst them.

With a two-episode finale coming our way within the week, we’re sure we’ll be given a little bit of insight into what to expect in the show’s final season, scheduled to hit screens at some point in 2021. Let’s hope we get more answers than questions!

The Walking Dead: World Beyond concludes this coming Friday, November 27th 2020 on Amazon Prime Video in the UK, with the final two episodes then airing on Sunday, November 29th 2020 on AMC in the United States.
