The 30-year-old actor, Hollywood actress Susan Sarandon, and three-time Oscar nominee Saoirse Ronan will join Jamie Oliver and Jimmy Doherty in their pop-up bistro on Southend Pier to cook up a storm this December to chat about their love of food and their favourite meals, as well as being grilled with questions from diners.

Ant and Dec, 'Strictly Come Dancing' presenter Claudia Winkleman, Spice Girls singer Mel B and comedians Joe Lycett, Rob Beckett and Jack Dee will also show off their foodie credentials at the end of pier.

What's more, Mary Berry will head to the bistro to show the boys a thing or two in the ultimate cookery masterclass, and champion boxer Amir Khan will aim to knock out a range of delicious meals for their guests.

While Jamie is known as a renowned cook, he hasn't always had successes in the kitchen.

The star once turned a chicken into "a piece of coal" during a Christmas dinner disaster.

When asked if he's ever had a disaster in the kitchen, Jamie said: "Oh Christ. That has happened. When you're cooking, you're getting things going, and if something nice is happening in the other room you want to join in. At Christmas I cook in a wood oven, and if you get your timings wrong you end up in trouble. I put a chicken in there and forgot about it because I was doing stuff with the kids, and someone threw logs on and the chicken turned into a piece of coal."
