The BBC One show had much success with Joe Sugg and Saffron Barker, who are both big stars on YouTube, as well as last year's finalist HRVY and they are now looking to the global platform to find a new contestant for the upcoming series, the show's Talent Executive Stefania Aleksander has revealed.

She said: "In order to do my job is just knowing a broad range of celebrities.

"It’s not just about actors, actresses. Strictly moved into social media stars through booking Joe Sugg and Saffron Barker, so in order to entertain all genres, it’s about investing some time in learning about them. Social media is a whole world that I immersed myself into to learn about."

And Stefania has looked towards the platform in order to appeal to the widest audience age as possible.

Speaking at a Screenskills panel, she added: "It’s really important that every year we have a cross section of ages. Kids from the age of five to Nana’s up to 95 all watch the show, so for us a cross section of ages is really important because we want everyone to sit down together and champion someone in that cast - whether they’re 19 years of age or 60. We want to make sure that it’s all very well balanced and represented. We’ll always cast people of different ages to keep the balance there."

It comes after it was revealed Stacey Solomon is being eyed to star in the next series.

Bosses at the hit BBC One show are keen to get the 'Loose Women' panellist on the dancefloor later this year as they had been trying to get her on 'Strictly' last year but coronavirus restrictions meant she wanted to be at home for her children - Zachary, 13, Leighton, eight and Rex, 21 months.

A source said recently: "Stacey's name was in the frame for 'Strictly' last year but she didn't want to quarantine away from her kids. The pandemic meant she wanted to be at home as much as possible to home-school her eldest two boys and because her youngest Rex was still a baby."
