Carl Piddington has passed away 10 years after he was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour and told he only had 12 months to live.

A post on the Brain Tumour Research page confirmed the news of Carl's death.

It read: "Our heartfelt condolences go out to all who knew and loved Carl."

His father Bill played loveable 'Corrie' character Jack Duckworth from 1979 to 2010, and he died of a heart attack two years later in Spain aged 71.

In 2017, Carl said his dad "completely fell apart" after he told him about his cancer diagnosis.

He said: "I'll never forget the day I told my dad I had cancer.

"He collapsed psychically and emotionally, sobbing like a baby. Dad just completely fell apart.

"We don't think he ever recovered from that day."

Bill left 'Corrie' to support Carl, but after outliving his father Carl felt "guilty" about his dad's decision to depart the cobbles.

He previously said: "Something that really plays on my mind is the guilt I have got for my dad leaving the show that he loved, because that is what eventually killed him.

"As a family we kept asking him, 'Are you sure you want to leave, Dad?' He just said he had had enough and that family was more important to him.

"And then, when he went, that's what killed my mam. It's all down on me. It's on my shoulders."
