'Little Britain' scooped the coveted Best TV Comedy award for the second year running at last night's (14.12.05) British Comedy Awards.The hit sketch show - which stars David Walliams and Matt Lucas - beat other frontrunners like Ricky Gervais' 'Extras' to take the prestigious honour.Walliams and Lucas also won the first ever Ronnie Barker Writer of the Year award for their work on the popular series.Gervais also lost in the Best Comedy Actor category with the prize going to funnyman Chris Langdon.The only awards for 'Extras' went to Ashley Jenson, who picked up the gongs for Best Comedy Actress and Best Comedy Newcomer. Elsewhere, 'X Factor' was named Best Comedy Entertainment show.Simon Cowell, a judge on the popular singing contest, said fellow judge Louis Walsh helped them scoop the prestigious accolade. He said backstage: "Louis Walsh won us this award because he's an idiot and he makes the viewers laugh."Other winners included Paul O'Grady, who scooped Best Comedy Entertainment Personality, and Ant and Dec, who won the People's Choice Award.

Animated series 'The Simpsons' picked up the Best International Comedy award.
