I've never been on a date

I've never been on a date

Spokesperson for the online dating website IllicitEncounters.com, Rosie Freeman-Jones, has come back with her thoughts on another reader dilemma. This week, dating is on our reader’s agenda!

Our Female First discussion board member asked:

I'm in my 30s now and I've never had a girlfriend, never even been on a date, mostly my own fault, I am quite insecure.

Wanted to get a woman's perspective on a few things.

What do you like in men? Looks? Confidence? GSOH? Can't be that, I'm a quite a funny guy or is it more financial status and ambition, or sensitive emotional guy, or maybe do you just need to have common ground to form a relationship? How do you like to be asked out? Any good lines or is it better to build the relationship first before?

Are dating websites any good? How can I improve myself to make myself a good catch? Would it be off putting to you to date someone with no experience in relationships is such a late stage in the game?

Rosie said:

“The main thing to remember that it’s not too late! For many women they’re not looking for that one thing in particular, it’s about finding that connection with the right person.

“For a lot of women they are attracted to confident men so play to your strengths. If you are funny that’s great – women love humour!

“Think about what you want to get out of dating. What are you looking for? Do you want lifetime commitment or do you just want to live in the moment?

“Whether or not you’re seeking a commitment can make a difference in how you approach dating.

“If you want to date for fun, what matters most is how well you get along. Flirting and sexual chemistry are really important here.

“If you want a partner, you should be prepared to overlook shyness and initial awkwardness and get to know someone over more than one date. How compatible and the emotional exchange between you are important here.

“If you’re looking for a mixture of fun and commitment it’s important to know where you stand so you can figure out if your date is on the same page.

“There’s many dating sites out there with high success rates. My advice would be to spend a bit of time having a look round them and, as most of them allow you to search for free, look at the women on the sites and see which one you could see yourself on.”
