Rain ruined the first day of the Download Festival in England on Friday (08Jun12) as fans of acts like the Prodigy, Slash and Nofx braved the mud and bad weather to watch their heroes.
The Prodigy headlined the opening day of the 10th Download at DoningtonPark, arriving onstage 25 minutes late - but at least they got there; The Final Countdown hitmakers Europe had to abandon plans to perform when they were caught in traffic en route to the festival.
Slash was a major highlight, playing solo material interspersed with Guns N' Roses tunes, much to the delight of fans.
The bad weather forced event organisers to delay the start of the festival, cancelling sets by Rise To Remain and Cancer Bats, who took to the main stage during Billy Talent's set to perform Hail Destroyer.
Metallica are scheduled to headline on Saturday (09Jun12) and the reunited Black Sabbath will also perform this weekend.
Guitarist Tony Iommi can't wait to rock the festival on Sunday "We're really looking forward to it".
Meanwhile, frontman Ozzy Osbourne tells the BBC that fans can expect the group to play its more obscure "shadow songs" in Sabbath's first official reunion show.
