Emile Hirsch says he really responded to the John Belushi biopic when he read the scrip as director Steve Conrad has a 'strong vision'.
Hirsch has landed the role of Belushi in a biopic about the actor, a film that sees him team up with Conrad for the first time.
Speaking to Rolling Stone the actor said: "Conrad had a strong vision and I feel like I just fit into that.
"Then I read the material and really responded to it. Everything about it is interesting."
And Hirsch says that he is excited about the project and that he and everyone involved just want to do the actor justice.
"It's exciting to present this guy to a generation of comedy fans who may not be too knowledgeable about his work. We're trying to do him justice."
Conrad has also penned the screenplay for the film, while Dan Aykroyd - Belushi's friend and co-star - is on board as one of the producers.
The movie will follow Belushi's rise to fame all the way up to his untimely death at the age of thirty three.
The rest of the cast is yet to be announced.
