Mark Wahlberg has revealed that a sequel to The Fighter will focus on his relationship and bouts with Arturo Gatti.
The Fighter enjoyed huge critical success when it was released last year, going on to be nominated for BEst Picture as well as Christian Bale & Melissa Leo picking up Oscars.
There has been talk of a sequel for some time and Wahlberg is keen to focus in on Micky Ward & Arturo Gatti.
Speaking to Digital Spy the actor said: "They became very close... and still went in the ring to try to kill each other.
"It's not really a follow-up to The Fighter.... much more of a study of Micky Ward and his relationship that formed from that first fight with Gatti."
But before we see Wahlberg reprise the role of Ward he is back on the big screen this week in action/heist movie Contraband.
This is the first film for the actor since The Fighter and it sees him team up with Kate Beckinsale, Giovanni Ribisi and Ben Foster.
Contraband is released 16th March.
